Souls For Sale.

Postby dreamon on Tue Mar 09, 2010 9:48 am

The rare spirits that went under the gavel at a recent online auction in New Zealand weren't aged brandies or hard-to-find liqueurs. Instead, two glass vials purportedly containing the ghosts of two dead people sold for $2,830 New Zealand dollars ($1,983) at an auction that ended Monday night.

The "ghosts" were put up for bidding by Avie Woodbury from the southern city of Christchurch. She said they were captured in her house and stored in glass vials with stoppers and dipped in holy water, which she says "dulls the spirits' energy."

I'm all for auctions for charity but this is a bit creepy, wonder what sci-fi movie she got the idea from? She should be a sales person, looks like she could sell swamp land online.

Surely there is some way to get the souls released to the spirit world where they will stay and not linger among the mortals?

I cannot be the only one to notice the woman's willingness to sell such spirits yet she wants net proceeds to go to protecting animals? Nothing like spite for one's fellow humans. There are ethical dilemmas involved with the story.

University debate clubs need to get this topic into a debate. Situation soothes not the trapped souls and seller needs to examine her conscience-what if that situation happened to her soul? Wouldn't she want someone to advocate for her release.

(Sounds of gnashing teeth; steam coming out of ears.) Jolly mean of the lady to sell the vials with spirits. It was not enough that she got peace in her house, now she wants cost recovery of getting that peace. Something is not right in that land when such doings are seen as OK for online auction. Surely she is contravening some rule in selling these souls?
