Nothing like searching for people I haven't seen in months/years and finding ONE result online for them. At least there is evidence of their existence.

People do drift apart after school ends, new jobs happen or social/family lives develop. Some occupations are time-or commute intensive, so social hours are limited to family gatherings or a special occasion (shower or wedding, when most people try to attend).

You know how you meet people in your community and you are not friends but acquaintances that you say "hello" to and perhaps chat briefly with? I found out that Googling one person who I had not seen in a couple of years just passed away last Friday. That individual knew local events, publications and computers--he was someone to easily pass 5-10 minutes with in light conversation. He will be missed (I have missed his helpfulness for the past couple of years, as I had found out indirectly about his departure from work).

Wish List continues-part 2...

-a chauffeured SUV/minivan ride to Toronto or Niagara Falls for myself and three other people for a daytrip. Cargo room has to hold some takeout bags, some bags of shopping, first aid kit, a few blankets and a roadside assistance kit. Gatorade, water, or juice bottles to be held in the vehicle for thirst needs. And maps!

-some As Seen on TV gadgets-the pasta cooker/strainer, some Snuggies in pastel colours (not dark ones), and little gadgets to make life easier

-a John Deere lawn tractor with snowblade attachment. No idea where to store the machine. Think the yellow seat cushion is a cheery colour and I would have fun sitting on it while plowing the driveway.

-six-month supply of giftcards for Swiss Chalet and local malls, for those spur of the moment meals or shopping on the move and finding either destination is on the way-life is made easy.

-a pair of UGG boots just to see if they fit. If not, then donate them. If they do fit, enjoy their warmth during winter.

-a sampling of Somersweet products--the sweetener, the veggie chips, the rubs and maybe a cookbook, just to see what the fuss about the line is all about.

-two wool blankets with satin bindings, one in soft yellow and the other in soft green. Warm!!

-fabric and notions to make a pair of flannel lined cotton-nylon pants with exterior pockets--yellow and purple combination.

Wish list

-all major players flush with new contract money get a basic consumer course and basic law course as part of their first year under contract. Lean heavily on the behaviour expected off-site part so that the team or sport doesn't get stuck with bad pr. Take communications classes or private training if home life is rather uneven BEFORE smoke becomes flames.

-some celebrities just keep their skin flashing and other habits for home use indoors and not for public consumption. Thank you.

-let minor children stuck in Children's Aid care or foster care have a voice in court cases and decisions affecting school, food, clothing, after school clubs or hobbies and siblings. Don't let the adults make all the decisions especially ones with post-secondary letters after their names or parents just because they want things a certain way. Some kids are really affected by separation from familiar faces or supportive people and don't get chances to point out what they want as they move through the system and deal with strange adults and kids who may give them trouble.

-a similar daytrip with friends out with booked ride, food, and outings as Ciel has posted.

-some silly snow fun for New Year's Day

-2010 not be so hard economically on us all and no new taxes!!
Fuelled by sugar.

What would be the other seasons' equivalents of the Yule log burning video that appears on TV stations around this time of year?
Possible themes-
Spring-stream or river flow along the banks with grass or emerging flowers in view?
Summer-view of the blue skies of passing air traffic: planes, birds, insects, objects aloft in the air?
Fall-sidewalk by curb view of leaves swirling in the wind on a sunny day?

Seasons-well they differ in the Northern and Southern Hemispheres, so two sets of seasonal videos would be useful.

Winter-Australia's in full summer mode then-beach scene, Santa in short pants.

Spring-guess it would be loop of little creatures following their parents around

Summer-bbq sounds and smoke; patio chatter

Fall-street scene of downtown areas and little parks; dogs running around too.

Reading Wikipedia on some royal families in Europe-head is whirling over the lines of succession business and the fact that some people in line to Danish throne also get in the line for the British throne. Seems to be plenty of UK contenders for the throne, not like everyone wants the throne to be an ongoing construct for the 21st century.

That Norwegian prince that had two sons with his first wife (she had UK/Asian/European heritage) now has a third son with his second wife. All of the boys are tagged with four names-some of which seem popular amongst the royals. One name is related to so-and-so's relation, another due to royal relation, another ...etc.

Do royal parents have some say in the names - I'd say partially if the baby has a string of them. There may be guidelines provided by the staff or agency overseeing the royal members about names.

Certainly would be something to discuss with cousins and other kin with the same names--must get tedious being called by name and three or more heads swivel around to figure out which one of them was being summoned.

Cold season-there may be a valid point about minimizing kisses or hugs during the cold season. Yet another sinus cold is rallying to its end. Tissue time indeed.

New Year continues with the icy wind! New and chilly start to the year. Glad I don't swim with polar bears or people who like lake swims at this time of year. Brr!

Genuine appreciation for warm things tonight: central heating, blankets, sweaters, cocoa, instant noodles (steam is good for the nasal passages while eating the noodles).

Snow and ice and flooding seem to have travelled widely around the globe in the past couple of weeks. Where to have all of that precipitation to go? I almost wish there was a way to store it for times of the year that the water levels are low. But then there is water treatment, who gets the water and how much and for how long.

If anyone is seeding clouds to tempt stormy weather, that person has to be accurate to ensure the rain goes where it is needed, not to go beyond that. How volume is controlled-bet that is not an exact science as yet.
